[ST. JOHN’S EARNS THE RIGHT TO DEFEND THEIR TITLE]

Grand Falls-Windsor, NL – St. John’s Pizza Hut Predators defeated Tri Com Marks Work Wearhouse Flyers in the Championship Game of the 2010 Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial AAA Bell Aliant Pee Wee Championship on Sunday, February 22, 2010 in Goulds.

St. John’s defeated Tri Com 6-1 in the final after going undefeated in the six team tournament. The championship team was in total control of the game after scoring four unanswered goals in the second period. Goal scores for the winning team in the championship games were Adam Howell, Matthew Smith, Andrew Picco, Cody Barron, Nathan Noel and Blake Dalton. Michael Brooders spoiled Conor McCarthy’s shutout bid scoring for the Flyers in the third period.

St. John’s will now try to defend their Atlantic Championship title at the 2010 Bell Aliant AAA Pee Wee Atlantic Championship being held Moncton, NB from March 18-21, 2010.

Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador congratulates all teams and the host committee Gould Minor Hockey Association for delivering a first class event that showcased the best 11 and 12 year old hockey players in the province.
