High Performance
Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador High Performance Program is a development opportunity for all Under 15 and Under 16 male hockey players and all Under 15 and Under 18 female hockey players. Registered players attend a zone camp from which approximately 60 players in each age group are identified and selected to attend a summer provincial selection camp. From this camp, players are selected to Team Newfoundland and Labrador which competes at the Atlantic Challenge Cup. Every fourth year the High Performance Program also helps to identify and prepare players for their potential involvement in the formation of the Provincial Teams participating in the Canada Winter Games.
The High Performance Program is dedicated to providing high level of development opportunities to all participants and the primary focus is on player evaluation and identification. The Program exposed participants to high level of coaching and training methods, developmental and educational curriculum, and consistent evaluation criteria standards.
