Cal Dunville’s 14-season hockey career with the Stephenville Jets and the Corner Brook Royals was filled with personal and team achievements. His points total is third in the all-time scoring parade of provincial senior hockey with 307 goals and 420 assists for 727 points in 422 games. His record includes four league titles, two Herder Memorial Trophies, four performances in national senior hockey competition and an Allan Cup victory as a member of the Corner Brook Royals in 1986.

Dunville started his hockey career in 1972 as a midget all-star, added a high school Most Valuable Player award and a rewarding junior hockey season prior to being selected provincial senior hockey rookie of the year for 1976. He was the top scorer for four provincial hockey seasons, earned Most Valuable Pplayer designation on three occasions, and was named the most dedicated player on two occasions.

Captain of the Stephenville senior team for 10-straight years, his leadership both on and off the ice played a major role in the four league championships and the two Herder Memorial Trophies that the team won. In 1993 he paced Stephenville to an intermediate hockey championship.

His character included great love and great passion for the game of hockey, and he has often been declared as the franchise player for Stephenville clubs. While Stephenville was the main benafactor from his hockey career, all of Western Newfoundland and indeed the complete province reaped rewards because Dunville played hockey.
